New Allied Gardens Dog Park!!

A new dog park has opened in Allied Gardens!  The grand opening happened this weekend at 6707 Glenroy Avenue right next to the Allied Gardens swimming pool.

The new dog park allows for off-leash activities. Officials claim that this particular park is 68% larger than other San Diego off-leash parks (excluding the beach dog parks). Activities for dogs at the park include agility training and seating, poop bag dispensers, doggie drinking fountains, shaded seating, and fenced-off areas to separate larger dogs from smaller dogs.

Although it is next to the Allied Gardens community pool, concerns from pool users were addressed by installing heavy fabric along the perimeter to mitigate any negative effects to the pool users. Per park Raul Campillo, city councilmen for District 7, $389,000 of the fiscal year 2024 funds were secured to install the new dog park (.).  This was a much-needed amenity for the Allied Gardens community and fit in perfectly with this underutilized area of the park. If you have a dog and live in the area, please come by and check out the new park!
