The 1,000-acre subdivision was originally developed in the 1954 contractors, Louis L. Kelton and Walter Bollenbacher. The area features well-planned streets lined with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments, many of which boast mid-century architectural styles.

Older students from the area attend Patrick Henry High School, located between San Carlos and Del Cerro on Wandermere Ave.
